hile hundreds of settlers have moved to the frozen lands of Northrend
seeking their fortune some are seeking a fresh start in more familiar
places. It all started with the election of Garth Kamill Robertsons
election to mayor. Shortly after being elected he launched a grand
advertising campaign, seeking to draw people hoping for a second chance
to the Hillsbrad Foothills. After the hardship these areas have
suffered in recent years large areas have been abandoned and left
unused, the new Mayor seems determined to revert this.
The
campaign was launched in Stormwind last week, town criers have been
yelling about the opportunities to be found up north. Jobs, land,
fields just waiting for a farmer to do his work. At Monday the 25th the
Mayor himself visited Stormwind and held three rallies where he spoke
to the citizen, hundreds of poor, unemployed and hopefull had gathered
to hear his words. Though some voiced concerns about moving into lands
torn by war, most were thrilled by the thought of a fresh start. The
results could be seen the next days, as long caravans could be seen
leaving town, packed with the few belongings these people seeking a new
life could manage to bring along.
And the amount of people leaving
seems to be increasing, along the roads north of the Algaz traveling
carvans can be seen on a daily basis now.
The mayor have also
appointed several new guardsmen into high ranks, former Argent Cursader
Leopold Proodsword have taken control of a large part of these forces.
To ensure a safe journey for the settlers his guards have been
escorting several of the carvans. With the recent battles in the area
the fear of horde attacks have been great. It is believed that the
horde may target these innocent civilians to get revenge after the
latest Alliance operations in the area.
Though
these fears are nowhere to be seens in the blossoming Soutshore. As new
people arive each day the place is filled with life, laughter and
friendly voices. Each day new houses are erected and old fields plown
once again. There is enough land for everyone and trade is allready on
the rise. People seems at good spirit though there is much work to be
done.
With farmers and miners settling down in Hillsbrad the merchants follow
in their footsteps, a dranei by the name of Edira have bought the local
inn while doctors, tailors, smiths, carpenters and alchemists all are
setting up shop. The work the alliance armies put into securing the
northern trade routes may be paying off sooner then expected. The
nearby hillsbrad fields is also likely to be the next target for
expansion as settlers fill up Soutshore, and with more people come more
jobbs. The town of hillsbrad welcomes you to a fresh start!
