ollwoing the recent victory in Duskwood Alliance forces press for the momentum and take battle to the Horde!
It
have only been a few weeks since the alliance forces pushed Harry Horde
out of Duskwood and far into the jungle of Stranglethorn, but our brave
boys see no need to rest. In a moment of brilliance Alliance Command
have moved the battlefront north to Arathi in a bold attempt to secure
old trade routes and land rightfully belonging to the grand
Alliance.bOn the 22nd of may several ships under the command of The
Stormwind Royal Navy and Admiral Eldarian Silverheart docked at
Menethil harbour, deploying two full regiments for the comming
offensive.
During the following day preparations were made
between the various commanders while the full might of the Alliance
forces were amassed. The famous Brootherhood of the Horse, knights of
The Silver Hand, various remnants and heroes all ready to give their
share for the alliance. A defensive battleforce consisting of the
Ironforge Guards and Tinkers Guard had also come down from the
mountains to ensure the safety of Khaz Modan. As the town hall bell of
Menethil rang the seventh hour past noon the alliance forces were lined
up at Menethils gates, armors shining in the falling sunlight. While
part of the force were detached to Soutshore to lead the attack from
Hillsbrad the main bulk of the alliance forces marched through the
wetlands to the dwarven songs and chants echoing among the
mountaintops.
At the eight hour past noon the alliances forces
were in position at the Thandol Span to the south, and Thoradins wall
to the west. The warhorns were sounded and the alliance forces lead on
by the cavalry marched onto the span.
Though just as they were across drums of battle sounded. From the wery
towers of the Thandol Span, who were believed to be abandoned, a great
number of Horde grunts attack the advancing forces rear. Disarray and
chaos spread among the alliance infantry and cavalry and it look for a
moment like the battle could be over before it started. But a rallying
cry was heard and the alliance turned the ambush into a trap where the
horde forces suddenly were cornered between dwarven axe and gnomish
guns on one side, and human steel and sword on the other. The Horde
forces were swept away and the alliance made their way into Arathi. At
the same time the first divison under the command of Captain Emett
Beyer made a decisive vitcory against the Horde forces at Thoradins
wall and marched forward to Refugee point.
But though the
horde had been beaten back at the Thandol Span they were not defeated.
A massive counterattack fell upon the second divison marching
northwards under the command of Sir Boen Goodwin. The Alliance lines
were broken and savage and rampage Horde toar the alliance forces
asunder and sent them running for the Wetlands.
With the Horde in hot pursuit disaster was imminent, but as they
reached the Span the Horde came across a force they once again were not
expecting. The force of Ironforge had erected a defensive checkpoint to
secure the lands of Khaz Modan, and it was this which once again turned
the battle to the Alliance favour. As the Alliance forces reached the
Span they turned around and rallied their troops once more, before the
shield and armor stood fast against the assaulting wave of Horde
forces. Soon the battlecry for victory could be heard, while the Horde
retreated towards Hammerfall.
After turning the tide against
slim odds the Alliance showed their valour and courage once more and
were able to join forces at refugee point. From there on the final blow
against Hammerfall could begin. As the Alliance marched against
Hammerfall Horde farms were seized and meassures taken to halt the
supply gains of Harry Horde. There was little resistance to be seen as
the forces advanced, only distant rumbling of drums of war.
As night fell the Alliance forces were ready for the charge itself upon
Hammerfall. A small bulk of the forces advanced upon the main gates,
while the majority of the forces flanked the town to attack it from its
rear. The horns sounded and to a mighty cry the brave soldiers charged
upon the wooden palisades. However, it soon became clear that the Horde
forces had the better of the Alliance. Under the leadership of the
notorius High Warlord Cajuungumbo the Horde were well prepeared for
such an attack, and the Alliance were forcede to withdraw within
minutes.
Though the initial attacked had failed the battle was
not yet over. Mustering the combined force of both groups one giant
wave of alliance steel washed upon the front gates of Hammerfall and
were able to push the defenders back. As the gates fell the Alliance
advanced step by step while the battle raged like never before. Despite
heavy casualties a foothold was gained within courtyard of Hammerfall,
they rallied against the ferocious and savage defenders trowhing
themself at the shield and armor of the brave soldiers. Though great
havoc was done to Hammerfall the scale soon shifted its balance in
favour of the Horde once again. As new waves of defenders came to the
aid of the Horde the Alliance were forced to withdraw to Refugee Point.
Aftermath
Though the Alliance did not sucseed in claiming
Hammerfall great damage was done to both Horde forces and supplies.
Sadly, many good men also lost their life to secure the future of the
Alliance. But they gave their lifes to secure a vital foothold to the
north and ensure the safety of the trade routes to Soutshore. Though
the Horde took severl prisoners of war they were all released shortly
after the battle. This is believed to be a result of Tinkers Guard
capturing what proved to be a blood elf noble. The blood elf was
escorted to Refugee Point were a prisoner exchange later took place.
