An Interview of Alderwoman Azulai Aerien
A chance to chat with one of Stormwinds elite

I reached the Petitioners Chamber to meet and interview Miss Azulai, Lady Alderwoman of His Majesty's Stormwind's House of Nobles. She was recently elected as Alderwoman last month after Bishop Oxwald Alonsus, had left the position of alderman. I found her holding Audiences with the common folk and the nobles alike in the chamber. After she was free, I approached her and informed her about the interview.

Zeleran: “Good evening, I am Zeleran Derinas , from the Alliance Herald, you may have read my horoscopes in the older issues perhaps?”

Azulai: “Indeed I have! Please take a seat.”

Zeleran: “Thank You, I wondered if you have the time to be interviewed for an article, since you are the newly elected Alderwoman, and the first lady to take up the task people might want to know more about you.”

Azulai: “Of course. Gladly.”

Zeleran:
“Well, could you tell us about your aims and reason of taking up this job”

Azulai: “Aha. A fair question and a complicated one. But in simple terms, I wish for a better city. A unified city. During the reign of previous Aldermans the city was always in turmoil. There was always unrest. Lord Peredal created the Tribunal. Lord Oxwald granted amnesty to the most obscene mages from Dalaran that openly spied on us. There's always been trouble with rebels and scoundrels. I took up this position to end the turmoil.”

Zeleran: “Do you have any strategies in mind for achieving this noble aim, My Lady?”

Azulai: “Yes. I'm trying to allow every layer of the people to have a say in our noble house. People and other rebels have always claimed us to be "oppressive" and that we do not hear their wishes. I tend to allow them to speak and create harmony in this city! That is why I was voted in. After all, who could be against a unified and harmonious city?”

Zeleran:
“Also, your recent act of taking one elf named Liskan as adviser, perhaps you could elaborate on that?”

Azulai: “Mister Naske. Indeed, a curious case. Mister Naske is a very "famous" man for his previous actions and his wild side. However, he's in touch with a lot of people, different layers of the community. It's no secret his tavern is visited by mages from the Violet Senate. Lord Peredal and other nobles, and peasants and commoners. Mister Naske hears a lot from everyone and his opinion would be valid in motions we would pass. Even though some might ... dislike him.”

Zeleran: “But the people claim he is a republican and against the will of our graceful King Varian, what do you have to say for that?”

Azulai: “If he is, why did Lord Peredal not order his arrest? Why did Lord Peredal not close down his inn? Why did Lord Oxwald not close him down? Why did the guards do nothing? Why didn't anyone ask if the people claim he's a republican, a traitor? And why do noble mages visit it? Why does Lord Peredal and other nobles visit his inn?”

Zeleran: “Absolutely all fine arguments my lady.”

Azulai: “And even worse a thought! If Liskan is an actually traitor to the Crown. If he actually has been and IS all this time a republican. Well. We have seen many times mages from the Violet Senate visit it. We have seen nobles visit it. Must we conclude they are all aligned with republicans and rebels? What's the punishment for rebels and people who wish to destroy our monarchy Lord Eccerion?”

Eccerion: “Death, Lady Alderwoman.”

Azulai: “I trust the claims of these "people" are a bit overdone, otherwise we'd need to hang half the Violet Senate if they stepped on Stormwind grounds. And several prominent nobles.”

Zeleran: “Of course, Alderwoman. Continuing with our interview, there has been a proclamation that any scarlet onslaught member found shall be thrown out of the city, what are your views on this? Do you think it is politically correct?”

Azulai: “At first, I was willing to allow any scarlet entry IF they removed any visible signs of being aligned with them. During the course of time this changed however, they assaulted citizens, defiled the church, assaulted agents of the Crown. In my opinion, any scarlet caught should be hanged but it is a matter the magistrates deal with. Not I.”

Zeleran: “There have been claims to corruption being present in the House of Nobles in the past, what do you think is the situation now?”

Azulai: “The House has been cleaned of any corrupt elements in my opinion. Recently we have discharged Lord Fralow and Lady Kalynn for ignoring their duties. All the other nobles have been most considerate regarding their duties. And any noble who decides to ignore their duties will get the royal "boot".”

Zeleran: “Do you believe the King is right in spending so much of the funds from the treasury for the war that is taking place in Northrend? Do you believe that we should leave the scourge alone at this moment?”

Azulai: “Then I would ask, are you willing to turn into an undead creature serving the whims of a madman?”

Zeleran: “A valid question.”

Azulai: “The King is right to spend so much to win a war that will save us from that fate. And we will advise him on it as best we can.”

Zeleran: “What improvements would you like to see in the city guard and the crime situation in the city so far?”

Azulai: “New leadership and a solid ranking structure.”

Zeleran: “How does it feel being the first Lady Alderman? Do you think the women of our generation are getting the right treatment?”

Azulai: “Well, it feels like I'll have a daunting task ahead of me. Already I feel some resentment from people who regard me unable for the job. Who feels I don't have the sense needed for the job. But I like to think I'll bring in a new and fresh view. And hopefully it'll succeed and improve the city.”

Zeleran: “What about the current poverty situation in Stormwind?”

Azulai: “As said, by allowing everyone to be heard we'll try to deal with the core of the problems. We are concerned for the people. And we'll do our best to aid them.”

Zeleran: “And, finally, would you like to give our readers a message or advice?”

Azulai: “Yes. If there's anything they wish to discuss with me, they should know that I'm willing to listen to their pleas. I'll be here, working for the city of Stormwind. Working for a better community.”

Zeleran: “Thank you for your precious time, My Lady.”

Azulai: “It was a pleasure to be able to assist you.”

I hope, that by reading this interview people have gained a new insight into the house of nobles, and maybe it has helped them, in some way or the other.
