The Expedition to Uldaman.

The Explorers' League decided to send an expedition to Uldaman, to recover a gemstone from a fallen Archaeologist and to search out any rare artifacts that could be found at the site. Mr. Fiblerod Gyrotonk, an enthusiastic gnome adventurer, better known as "Indiana Gnomes", was appointed to lead this expedition. Soon, posters were found all over Ironforge and Stormwind, asking for people interested in accompanying the gnome, to Uldaman. Intrigued, I signed for the expedition, and on Wednesday, 18th of February, went to Thelsamar in Loch Modan to meet up with the expedition.

Once there it came to my notice, that besides myself, Commander Taminak Silverthorn had also signed up. So, seeing that no one else was coming, we left and started making our way south to the Badlands. We soon found a cave that took us into Uldaman, so we could avoid the Dark iron camp that was outside the main entrance. Uldaman, long thought the ruins of some great house of the 'builder race' which the Dwarves claim to be the Titans of old lore, was excavated by the Explorers' League of Ironforge some years ago. But since then it has been partly occupied by forces of the rival Dark Iron Empire, as well hostile creatures, and League raiding parties into the dangerous tunnels have only begun to scratch the surface of what waits inside that vasty tomb.

After fighting a few troggs, we entered Uldaman, and let me tell you, it is an Archaeological Wonder. Even though it is believed to be built by dwarves, the size of the corridors, and the doors, is big enough to accommodate a giant! The carvings on the walls exceeded the ability of any artist in the present time.

Besides the excavating Dark Irons, we found that Uldaman wasn’t really devoid of life. A lot of troggs had made it their home and there were groups of bats and scorpids to be found. Heck, we even found a penguin inside, though how it was surviving without any ice, and away from its natural habitat, was beyond any of our understanding. After a few chance encounters with Dark Iron dwarves, we found the door to the vault, which was supposed to contain the rumoured artifacts, although it was locked, by a dwarven mechanism that involved us finding a key which was taken by an old trogg nearby.

On opening the door, we were shocked as the makers of the place had set a trap against anyone accessing the vault, and out came a gigantic … giant! It started attacking us, and we were left shocked for a second. After a good while we managed to defeat the giant, after taking a few injuries, and we entered the vault only to find it to be … empty!! The vault had already been robbed, without somehow activating the vaults guardian.

Saddened by the discovery we continued our hunt for the gemstone and found it attached to a sceptre of one of the Troggs, who appeared to be the leader. We snuck up to the trogg, and quickly disposed of him, and recovering the stone.

We decided that it was not worth the risk to walk out of Uldaman, and so I opened portals to Stormwind and Ironforge and we left our ways.

Why were the Dark irons excavating inside Uldaman? What were they trying to find? Who robbed the vault of its artifacts and how they did it? These questions shall be left unanswered for now, all we can do is to hope that the Explorers' League will take the required action to purge these menaces from inside Uldaman and find the answers to our questions.
