t approximately 2 o'clock Sunday morning, the lightly
defended town of Lakeshire was brutally attacked by three members of the Horde.
The lightning quick attack saw the gryphon master slain, cutting off the main
escape route for the townsfolk. The town's night-watch put up a brave defence
but were easily overwhelmed. The Horde fighters then swept through the town
attacking tradesmen and women, turning over cartloads of goods. Some of the
prominent traders were slain and several injured. Even Lakeshire's Magistrate,
Soloman was grievously injured.
Response
to the incursion was slow, several brave Alliance members attempted to defend
the town, but were swiftly cut down. Others merely watched the violence from the
safety of the banks of Lake Everstill. Eventually stronger resistance arrived.
The brave vigilantes went on to force the trio of vicious fighters to the
outskirts of Lakeshire and fought in grim combat on the hallowed ground of the
town's graveyard.
An
Orc fell, but regained strength, rallied by a sinister Blood Elf and forced on
by their leader, a bold Tauren. Renewed, the Horde warband broke the resistance
line and forced their way on to the Everstill bridge, before charging their
steeds out of the town, towards Goldshire, where no doubt they continued their
reign of terror.
Sources say that the Stormwind 5th Rifles were on maneouvres in the Redridge Mountains on the night of the attack, yet none of the regiment were present to defend the town. The question is, where were they during Lakeshire's hour of need? We at the Herald have been reminded by the aides of King Varian Wrynn to be vigilant of threatening Horde activity within the Alliance's territory.
