Herald Roleplay Night - Vote Plx!
« on: October 09, 2009, 02:40:38 AM »
Now, as things currently stand people out there (as in our readers) are content to let us just make the Herald for them without offering any kind of commitment to us besides a pat on the back and an irritating pointing-out of typos. Part of this is because we're often invisible; we're on alts, raiding, and doing things that don't inolve us playing WoW.

That's not a bad thing; we all do it and it keeps the game fresh for us. But the Herald needs us to give it something other than pretty words and pictures if it's going to survive in the long term. And what I'm suggesting is we have one night a week where we all bring on our Herald or Herald-affiliate characters and we do something; we go to Stormwind, or Ironforge, or Dalaran, or wherever, and we roleplay publicly for a couple of hours. I know it's been discussed before, but now's the time for us to actually do this.

I think we can all continue to play the game the way we usually do if we give a couple of hours back to the Herald for the purpose of getting us noticed. That way we might actually be able to get some new recruits, because as it stands, all we are going to attract are alts of the long-established players here on ER, which is not going to make the guild more active; they'll have their own guilds to go back to, and usually a lot more often than us. The Herald of the past is what we're aiming for: an active guild that while isn't huge is visible. We can use these RP nights to go to other events, look for stories, etc. Duston went to the effort of thinking up some fun stuff for us to do together, and none of us have picked any of it up and flown with it. I know, I'm Chair, I should start the ball rolling, and now my MA is over for another year, I can do (which is why I didn't do this sooner - I couldn't).

So, I want you all to think of a night where you can give the Herald something back. I know it'll mean hanging about in Stormwind a lot to begin with, which is rather dull, I know, but this is a sacrifice we've really got to make. If we can keep it up for a few weeks we can actually convince this server we're back, instead of just lingering in the background. So, you tell me whan you can spare the time, I'll figure out a night and a time from there and then I'll organise the rest.

We need to do something for the good of the Herald, and it's not going to do it itself this time. It's that or we just stay in the background. It's our choice.

Sounds good, let's get stuff shifting a bit. I voted for the weekend as during the week I'm usually too tired for cohesive thought.

Ok, saturday night seems to be the winner (just), though Duston had a resoundingly smart idea about this that'll keep everyone happy - we rotate the roleplay night. So, since we have our guild meetings on fortnightly tuesdays, I suggest that we meet on the off tuesday one week, then the saturday on the following week (yeah it sounds confusing, but I'll put it in the guild calendar in-game to make it a little clearer).

So, everyone please keep an eye on the guild calendar in-game - I'll try and make sure notifications go out to all freelancers or alts, just so no-one misses :)
