How to Apply to The Alliance Herald
« on: July 13, 2009, 10:10:01 PM »
The best way to apply for a position within the Alliance Herald is to send a letter of application to the Board of Directors. This can be done in-person via in-game mail, or, if more depth is required (and we certainly find it more useful to have it), it can be sent via this forum section.

Applications here should be in-character. This means the letter should be written in a manner your character would write it. While there is no set format or ‘application form’ to follow to apply to the Herald, the basic information all applications should contain is as follows:

1)   Your character’s name (so we can contact you in-game).
2)   Your character’s race, sex and age.
3)   A basic description of why your character wants to work for the Herald and where they would most like to work within the organisation (whether they wish to be a reporter, an artist, etc.).
4)   Any other information you think would be useful (a character’s special talents or skills, previous experience in a field such as writing, legal, accounting, etc.)

All applications will be reviewed by the Board and applicants will be contacted for an interview in due course in-game or via the forum if need be.

Interviews take place in-character. After the interview, an applicant is given a test in the form of a trial submission. This is usually a story on some aspect of current news in-game. This can relate to roleplay events, new game content, etc. After submission the article or other piece of work is reviewed, and if all goes well will be submitted for printing in a following issue of The Alliance Herald. New recruits and Freelance staff will receive an in-game Herald Presspack (this requires the Gryphonheart Items mod, available from the Curse Gaming website) and will be then on their way to a career of adventure and excitement within the Herald organisation.

Good luck!
